The above pictures are of Dick, Kerr’s Ladies F.C.
Dick, Kerr and Company was a locomotive and tramcar manufacturer. The company believed that organised sport would lift wartime morale. After the women beat their male coworkers, they created a team. They went from city to city, playing charity events and attracting large crowds. Up until the FA banned women’s football at its members grounds on 5 December 1921, “due of concerns that women were not physically able to play football, but there was a belief that the popularity of the team made some in the men’s game feel threatened.” This did not stop them from playing. The ladies traveled outside of FA jurisdiction and played in many countries across Europe and even going on tour in the USA. Dick, Kerr’s Ladies F.C. were one of the pioneer teams of women’s football that should always be remembered.
badass ladies of football history :)

Today Barcelona Femenino won the league by defeating Athletic Bilbao 1-2 in San Mames in front of 30,000 fans. They also said goodbye to captain Ani Escribano. Proud of my girls for all their hard work and for giving her the send-off she deserves!
